Single Board Computing

Rasberry pi

A brilliant piece of UK technology built initially to re-invigorate interest in HOW technology works, how it can be applied in generating new solutions for both personal and business use.

The Rasberry pi costs around £25.00 + VAT. You do though need a number of additional items to connect and use.

NOOBS = New Out Of the Box Software – needs to be loaded to an Micro SD Card which holds one of a number of operating systems. Raspian being the most popular.

Banana pi

This is a single board computer designed and built in Germany. It is targeted at the Android platform (itself a derivative of Linux) and as such to a wealth of existing Android applications (Google Play).

It is EARLY days in this emerging market and parallels to early microcomputers must not be ignored.
